The show is about two girls falling in love with same boy. The series starts with two couples, Kunal (Shakti Arora) and Mauli (Aditi Sharma) who are having their good marriage life whereas life of Nandini (Drashti Dhami) is about bad marriage with Rajdeep (Abhinav Shukla). Kunal and Mauli’s marriage is three years old. Nandini is a victim of domestic violence. Nandini and Mauli were best friends but Mauli left Nandini as she chose Rajveer over her. Kunal did not know that Nandini was Mauli’s childhood best friend as Mauli kept this secret from Kunal. Kunal is a dedicated pediatrician and Mauli is a dutiful gynecologist. Nandini is a obedient innocent wife and her husband Rajveer is a businessman owning a pathology lab.

The story take place when Kunal and Nandini become friends and feel love for each other but they did not want to break Mauli’s heart. When Kunal found that Nandini’s husband abuses her, he advised Nandini not to hide the matter and fight back with it.

Main cast

Shakti Arora as Dr. Kunal Malhotra, a pediatrician, husband of Mauli. He has a habit of leaving his job due to honesty as he is passionate about his work.

Drashti Dhami as Nandini Thakur, wife of Rajdeep and Mauli’s childhood best friend. She is an obident, traditional housewife and submissive in marriage and who fight to get her relationship work with an abusive husband who does not love her and always tries to use her to influence his clients. She is an undergraduate.

Aditi Sharma as Dr. Mauli Malhotra, a gynocologist, wife of Kunal and Nandini’s childhood friend. She is a loving and caring wife but sometimes, due to her professional life, she did not able to manage her personal life.

Abhinav Shukla as Rajdeep Thakur, Nandini’s husband. He is a dominative, cunning and abusive husband.

Background and production

Casting

Before the beginning of the serial Devoleena Bhattacharjee was selected to play the lead role but the role went to Drashti Dhami.

Writing and development

The serial was named ‘Bawre Nain’ but the makers changed the title to ‘Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka’.

Dhami stated that the serial would focus on the friendship between two friends and two couples and how circumstances takes place in their lives.

Before the launch of the series, Manisha Sharma, programming head of Colors, stated that:
